Philosophy of RACHANA
In the year 1989 a small group of friends with social commitment and involved with various development work started exploring the idea for working in the rural environment for creating a community free from any discrimination and equal opportunity for all.
They interacted with the villagers in a hilly region of Maharashtra State in India. Similar to rural environment in other parts of India, these villages are also far away from the process of development. The scenario for the downtrodden womenfolk and children is abysmal.
The group decided to work under a single umbrella with a focus to mobilize communities and facilitate the process of empowerment of rural women and development of children. And with this determination Rachana was founded. One of the group members Ms. Swati Chavan decided to work full time and is leading RACHANA.
